How clean is your office, really?

Your office is the centre of your business, it’s the first thing new clients see and where your office staff are every week. So how do you make sure that it is as clean as it can be? More and more organisations are struggling to keep on top of it so we wanted to make sure you are checking your office correctly.

A lot of our competitors won’t clean as well as we do, which is quite worrying considering how much rests on your office being the cleanest and tidiest place in your organisaton. Without proper cleaning you are opening your business up to a whole host of diseases and problems.

Checking the basics

The first thing you need to check to make sure your office is being cleaned correctly is the basics like the carpet, is it being cleaned and how often? A good cleaner will be cleaning the carpet every night with a deep clean taking place in your office at least once a month - to get the hidden dirt at the bottom of a carpet.

You should also be checking the worktops in your office kitchen and the basins, to make sure these are being cleaned correctly and regularly to make sure that no one is passing infections. Some infections tend to linger on the work surfaces and a nightly clean should see that a majority of these germs are removed.

Checking for a thorough clean

There is more to just checking surfaces and floors have been cleaned though, not all of the dirt in your office will be confined to these places. You also need to be checking places that staff are regularly using, like the toilets, keyboards and mice.

More and more offices are infected by germs because staff aren’t washing their hands, the doors to the toilets aren’t being cleaned and the keyboard and mice that staff use aren’t being cleaned effectively. With staff eating at desks and switching from computer to computer regularly, the office keyboard becomes a very dangerous place and a breeding ground for germs.

Health and safety with cleaning

Have you also been checking the health and safety aspect of your cleaners? At Clean Care Scotland our office cleaning staff are highly trained to use top of the board health and safety standards set out across the UK, Europe and Globally including the Colour Coding System for commercial cleaning.

If you are currently not sure that your cleaners are following these procedures, you should question them about what buckets they use and even ask the managers to stay in late one night to make sure that the cleaning is being done effectively. Using the wrong cleaning equipment or using the same equipment as the toilet in the kitchen causes dangerous cross contamination, which means that your staff might not pick up just a flu virus.
