Cost or Quality? How Do You Choose a Quality Cleaning Company?

Choosing A Quality Cleaning Company The Right Way.

When it comes to choosing a commercial cleaning company this is the dilemma that many companies today are faced with. In this current economic climate businesses are forced to pull on the purse strings and make every penny count, so what does this mean to the appearance of quality in your building and the impression it gives to your customers?

Quality Cleaning your Building

Your building is the first thing your customers see when they do business with you and most people will judge your professionalism and quality of service/product based on this first encounter. Keeping high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are therefore essential in creating the best impression and favourable ambience for your clientele. When it comes to deciding who you use to maintain your building for you what quality criteria should be important? Many companies out there will offer you low rates which seem favourable to entice you into doing business but is this really a good business decision? I would ask myself what is actually included in the service for such a low cost. Quality has to suffer! In the long term can any quality cleaning company operate in that way? A common complaint from customers who use these companies is that they feel that when they get let down by their cleaning operatives, there is no replacement cover and their building doesn’t get cleaned. The reason for this is that the contractors haven’t allowed for back up in their budgets when giving you a cost. By keeping their price to a bare minimum there is no breathing space for essential site visits from managers or supervisors to check the quality standard of work the operatives are producing. With this situation you find corners are cut and your building starts to look unclean.

Is that the first impression you want to make?

As well as ‘Budget cleaning companies’ there is the other end of the scale – the ‘Premium Companies’. You can expect to pay over the odds with these companies who will promise you the world and in most cases not deliver value for your money. Premium companies tend to be part of a franchise therefore have franchise fees and high overhead costs which is why they tend to be more expensive. As a franchise there is no conventional management structure, the owner tends to be responsible for all areas of the business and needs to be in more than one place at the one time. The big profits go the main franchise company but they are paid for by loss of quality in your business clean. When this happens who suffers? Other types of premium companies are the larger ‘big fish’ companies. You know who I’m talking about. Certainly they charge a premium rate and claim to offer a premium service but when it comes to contacting them or managers visiting you does it happen? How many times have you been left hanging on hold waiting to speak to someone to query a mistake or an overcharge? This can be so frustrating! The alternative to a low cost or a premium cleaning company is to look at a contractor who is independent and established. Speak to existing customers and hear firsthand how good the service they offer is. Look at their track record and ask how they tackle some of the common situations you have encountered when having problems with your current contractor;

  • do they have regular scheduled visits,
  • do you have a mobile contact number for the area managers and not a call centre number,
  • have they given you set days and times at which the cleaning will take place?

These are all important things you need to know when determining who you put your trust in. There is reputable quality cleaning company out there that can offer you a value for money, reliable and effect cleaning service so you won’t have the dilemma of choosing cost over quality.
